ALBERT LEA, Minn. – A multi-million dollar renovation is coming to a retirement center in southern Minnesota.
Community leaders gathered to honor the $11 million renovation set to begin at Thorne Crest Retirement Community.
It will house a new wellness center, updated apartments and underground parking among other things.
“It will bring it all up to standards and it will be a real great place for people to retire,” said resident and former Thorne Crest administrator Dale Rippey.
The project was set to begin before the recession hit, but residents are just happy to see it is actually panning out.
“It’s a great place to live, and what we’re doing here is improving the facility and bringing it up to par. We’ve been open for 40 years here,” Rippey said.
They are hoping to have the renovation completed by next year.
