DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Lance Armstrong is again planning to join in on the 418-mile, 15-county bike ride across Iowa later this month.
The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/1mYTB5M ) Armstrong plans to participate in his sixth RAGBRAI and even work as a guest bartender this Saturday in Rock Valley to help raise money for the northwest Iowa town of 3,400 hit by flooding.
Armstrong says he enjoys the Iowa ride, because it gives him a chance to participate in cycling in a friendly environment. And, he says the organizers of the Iowa event were the first to welcome him after he admitted he doped for all seven of his Tour de France wins from 1999-2005.
Up to 10,000 riders and another 10,000 followers are expected for the July 20-26 ride.
