ALBERT LEA, Minn. – One local woman is gaining stardom and putting some serious money in her account. Albert Lea High School graduate, Melissa Roche competed in the elimination-style design show, Brother Versus Brother.
She ended up in the final two teams of two designers. On Sunday night, her mother held a viewing party at her place of work, where friends gathered to find out if Roche would win. To their amazement, she and her partner won!
The prize is $50,000 and recognition for her Las Vegas based design business. Her mother says, she is also being acknowledged in her small town.
“It’s a great community builder, they’re proud that she came from Albert Lea and moved to Las Vegas, so she’s going to do us proud,” says Melissa’s mother, Marilyn Roche.
Marilyn works at the Salvation Army in Albert Lea. She says Melissa plans on coming home and putting her talents to use in sprucing up the place.
