MASON CITY, Iowa – A north Iowa man has entered an Alford plea to 2nd degree arson.
57-year-old Roger Kuck was accused of setting a blaze in October 2013 that destroyed a house near his home in Mason City. He originally pled not guilty to 2nd degree arson and 3rd degree burglary. Assistant Cerro Gordo County Attorney, Andrew Olson says Kuck changed that to an Alford plea on Monday, with the burglary charge being dropped. An Alford plea means Kuck does not admit guilt, but accepts that he would likely be convicted at trial and will accept sentencing.
Online court records do not list a sentencing date for Kuck.
