ATV outlaw turns himself in

COLE WICKWIRE

CERRO GORDO COUNTY, Iowa – The driver of an ATV who allegedly fled from authorities is now in custody.

19-year-old Cole Thomas Wickwire of Nora Springs turned himself in at the Cerro Gordo County Jail at 2:24 am Wednesday.  He’s charged with eluding law enforcement, operating an ATV on a highway, driving while barred, three counts of failure to obey a stop or yield sign, speeding, driving under suspension, driving an ATV where prohibited and a registration violation.

Authorities say Wickwire was operating an ATV on the roadway in the vicinity of Ulmus Avenue and 305th Street early Sunday evening.  When a sheriff’s deputy tried to stop him, Wickwire allegedly drove into the Shell Rock Preserve and eluded law enforcement.  Warrants were later issued for his arrest.
