MASON CITY, Iowa - Last year it was around 60 degrees at this time. We’re now looking at temps in the 90′s.
Jodi Willemsen, Cerro Gordo County Public Health, says they’re hoping you’ll take some advice if you’re going to be out in it.
“To beat the heat, I would say drink plenty of fluids during the day. If you can find a shady spot while you’re outside, do that as much as possible. Refrain from doing strenuous activities as much as possible too,” said Willemsen.
If you decide to be outdoors, take small breaks inside air conditioned buildings. Those who easily over-heat are kids from zero to four years old, and those 65 and older.
