ROCKFORD, Iowa – A north Iowa county is trying to make it less complicated for its residents to install solar panels.
Tuesday morning, the Floyd County Board of Supervisors approved a contract with the Iowa Economic Development Authority which includes a $20,000 Solar Ready Iowa grant.
The money will be used to promote solar energy by making it easier to get the panels installed.
“We’re going to review our existing ordinances, work with the utilities to streamline their permitting process, and just host some events here. Outreach, so people learn more about it,” says Mark Kuhn with the Floyd County Board of Supervisors.
Kuhn says a number of people in the county have expressed interest in installing solar panels.
