Fitness Friday: Super-Mom post-baby workout

COURTNEY

KIMT NEWS 3 – Super-mom, Courtney Pueggel has been sitting on the sidelines just waiting to get back into the gym to hit the weights.

“I’m a little nervous. I feel like I’m a beginner again. I used to be an old pro at it, now I’m kinda nervous, so we’ll see how it goes.”

She is working with strength and conditioning coach, Eric Tooker for one hour.

First, she goes through a quick warm up, then it’s go time.

Eric’s plan is to take Courtney through a series of exercises including, but not limited to squat to overhead presses, step-ups, and bent over rows combined with bursts of cardio.

It’s now about three-and-a-half weeks post-baby, and Courtney said being active has helped more than words can say.

“I feel like I could do everything right away. I mean, within a week of having him, and I had a C-section. That is a little bit longer recovery, but certainly not that much longer, and I do think working out the entire time I was pregnant really made a difference.”

With her first pregnancy, Courtney says she didn’t workout, but decided to do things differently this time around.

She could feel the difference! She has more energy, was able to maintain a healthy weight during pregnancy. She slept better and the post baby results are even better.

“Regardless of how you have the baby, I think recovery is sped up so much quicker, so I think it’s an invaluable part of someone’s pregnancy, pre and post. I think it does tremendous things for you throughout.”

She’s just hoping other expecting moms out there will consider being more active during their own pregnancies, because she says it’s worth it.

If anyone has any doubts about how much she loves her workouts, just ask what it took to be training again.

“I had to negotiate on when I was going to be able to come back into the gym, but I’m excited to be back and really looking forward to getting back into a routine and getting going again.”
