Shaw Looks to Shine at State

Back in 2010, Algona’s Weston Shaw got his first taste of the state tournament catching an entire game as an eighth grader, and even getting a hit.

This year, though, Shaw’s state experience will be from the opposite side of home plate as the Bulldogs starting pitcher in game one.

Now, all year long the senior’s been Algona’s unquestioned ace: 11-0 record, more strike outs than any other pitcher in our area and an ERA of just .78.

Saturday, Ryan Shaver caught up with Weston who said there’s no nerves heading into Tuesday, just excitement, focus and a hunger keep his team’s season alive.
