Iowa police investigate gunfire at pedestrian mall

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Iowa City police say they have arrested a juvenile who was shooting a weapon into the air and are searching for another.

Police say several shots were fired Sunday morning at the pedestrian mall downtown. Witnesses tell police two people were involved in the shooting and fled the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Police say they caught the juvenile two blocks south of the mall with a loaded pistol. They haven’t released his name, age or a motive for the shooting. He has been charged with two misdemeanors and two felonies.

Police are searching for the second person involved.
