ROCHESTER, Minn. – One person is in custody in connection to Wednesday’s shooting in Rochester.
Police say a 20-year-old victim was shot in the face when a potential drug deal went bad. That victim has since had surgery, and is recovering in the hospital. On Thursday, police talked to one person of interest in the morning, and then made an arrest of a suspect in the afternoon. They believe 19-year-old Elijah Golden was one of the two suspects who met the victim for the drug deal. Authorities do not believe he is the shooter, but are hoping to charge him with second-degree attempted murder. “Anytime someone commits a crime, assists, or facilitates someone else in committing a crime, they can face same or similar charges than the person who actually, in this case did the shooting,” Lt. Mike Sadauskis said.
Police also talked to another person of interest over the phone Thursday, and are hoping to talk with him face-to-face at some point. Police continue to look for the accused gunman.
