North Iowa food bank raising money for larger location

MASON CITY, Iowa – A north Iowa food bank is getting closer to raising the money they need, to move to a larger location.

The Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank in Mason City is in the middle of it’s  “Step Up to the Plate” campaign.

The goal is to raise $300,000 and so far, the pantry has raised $161,000.

They need the funds to move to a bigger facility, because demand for help is through the roof.

“We are seeing record numbers of people. I just saw the July information; we have more than doubled the number of people that we were serving from July 2010-July 2014,” says Ozzie Ohl with the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank.

You can make a food, or a money donation to the food bank at their current location in the Willowbrook Mall.

They are open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1:00-3:00, and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10:00-12:00.
