AUSTIN, Minn. – An Austin man is facing drug charges after police searched his home Tuesday.
41-year-old Scott Anderson was arrested on possession charges and driving without a valid license. After police pulled him over, they found nearly 8 grams of methamphetamine.
Authorities say they have dealt with him in the past, so they were able to get a search warrant for his home on the 1800 block of Oakland Ave. E. They found more meth and some marijuana there.
His house happens to be in the same neighborhood as Nevlin Elementary school.
“Even when the drug crime is not taking place on the school property itself, this is still a neighborhood where kids are going to school, kids are going to the park to use the playground in the summertime,” said Captain Dave McKichan of the Austin Police Department.
He said this is the third time they have been to his house for drug purposes.
If convicted, the penalties for his charges could be higher because he was in possession in a school zone.
