ORONOCO, Minn. – A big local project was celebrated on Wednesday.
Those with Freeborn-Mower Cooperative Services, People’s Energy Cooperative, and Tri-County Electric Cooperative were all on hand for a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday morning. Minnesota Three is a first-of-its-kind solar panel energy farm in Oronoco. Officials say with the amount of energy they will be getting, they could serve up to 60 homes. “Our individual cooperatives could not have achieved this project alone. We made it happen because the three cooperatives, and the three boards of directors made a conscious decision to work together to make this happen,” CEO of People’s Energy Cooperative Elaine Garry said.
The project was partially funded by a federal grant.
