UPDATE: One arrested, one wanted in Rochester shooting

ROCHESTER, Minn – The Rochester Police Department is turning to the public to find a wanted shooting suspect. 17-year-old Aries Candler is wanted in connection to a shooting on July 30th in NW Rochester.

The investigation revealed the victim was shot when he was fending off a robbery attempt. In a news release, police said an arrest warrant has been issued for Aries Candler for 1st degree aggravated robbery and 2nd degree assault.  Candler is considered armed and dangerous and should not be confronted.

“He shot somebody with a gun so it’s reasonable to believe that he is armed and if he has already shot one person if he knows that someone is going to get in contact with him and he might be arrested,” Lt. Casey Moilanen with the Rochester Police Department.

If anyone has information regarding Candler’s whereabouts, they are asked to contact the Rochester Police Department at 507-328-6800, or by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Candler is described as African American, 5’10”, 135 pounds.

Also in connection to this case, 21-year-old Charles Webster has been arrested. Webster also faces charges of 1st degree aggravated robbery and 2nd degree assault. Police say Webster was the getaway driver during the shooting.
