LAKE MILLS, Iowa – Almost any pet owner will tell you, unexpected vet bills can get expensive.
There is a way to help deal with those costs. More pet parents are considering insurance for their animals. There is a monthly premium, that can start at about $10 per month.
There are also different kinds of coverage, from basic care, all the way to emergency surgery.
“It’s becoming more and more of a popular thing as the pet industry is growing and booming. People are more conscientious of taking care of the health of their pets,” says insurance agent, Andrew Stensrud.
Last year Americans spent about $56 billion on their pets, and about 25% of that was for vet care.
