ROCHESTER, Minn. – A sergeant with the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is injured after a training exercise.
It happened Thursday morning at a Rochester training facility. Authorities say the sergeant was using a firearm with blank ammunition. When he went to take it out, it fired a blank round. The powder and gas from the blank caused serious injuries to his buttocks.
He was taken to St. Mary’s hospital for treatment. He is expected to be released at some point on Friday.
