Remains of 3 buried in Iowa hobo ceremony

National Hobo Convention

BRITT, Iowa (AP) — This year’s Hobo Memorial Ceremony in the north-central Iowa city of Britt saw the remains of three people buried in Evergreen Cemetery.

A man known as Bo Grump, of Sioux Falls, was one of three. Bo Gump’s mother, Lump, buried part of his cremated remains.

The ceremony, part of the four-day annual National Hobo Convention in Britt that wraps up Sunday, honored seven people who have died since the last convention.

The festival honors the hobo way of life and is now in its 114th year.
