DES MOINES, Iowa – Four people injured in a Worth County auto accident are out of the hospital.
The Iowa State Patrol says 35-year-old Alejandro Ramirez-Cebrero of Tama was driving north on Interstate 35 Monday, just before 7 am, when his vehicle drifted off the right shoulder. Authorities suspect Ramirez-Cebrero fell asleep at the wheel and when he woke up, he overcorrected and caused his vehicle to roll. The vehicle, a 2002 Chevy Tahoe, entered the median and came to rest on its wheels facing west.
Ramirez-Cebrero and three passengers were hurt in the accident and taken to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa. Ramirez-Cebrero, 42-year-old Carmen Milagros Casanova, 39-year-old Victor M. Gonzalez-Figueroa and 21-year-old Ricardo Figueroa Gonzalez were all treated and released. Ramirez-Cebrero was cited for failure to maintain control.
This incident happened about a quarter-mile south of Exit 214 on northbound I-35.
