MASON CITY, Iowa – Earlier this week, folks came out to support a local man in his struggles with Crohn’s disease. The “Jammin’4Jonathon” event featured live music, a meal, bake sale, and raffle prizes.
Jonathon Boyle was diagnosed 10 years ago with Crohn’s disease, which attacks the digestive system and prevents nutrients from being absorbed into the body.
Over the years, he and his family have had more than their share of medical debt. He says this is a good way to make up some of the difference, and he couldn’t be more thankful.
“It means so much to me. It’s incredibly hard to put into words how humbled, and overwhelmed and grateful I am with the amazing community response that’s come out of this,” says Boyle.
He tells us the event theme comes from his love of music. He plays the violin and majored in music for two years while at Luther College.
