MASON CITY, Iowa- A highly anticipated dog park is now open in Mason City. The park located off Elm Street and 12th street has been in the works since 2009.
The park is built for dogs off all kinds and has several different amenities such as water fountains and an obstacle course.
Laura Grommesh, a member of the Friends of Mason City Dog Park, says they are not done building yet and would like to add to the park after they receive some feedback about the park, but she is still very excited with how things have turned out.
“Of the things I things I think I’m most proud of is the fact that we really did our research and we found what will make a good, successful dog park and we try to bring all those factors here,” Grommesh says. “We haven’t got it perfect yet, but we’re going to keep working until we do.”
Grommesh still wants to put in more water fountains and add to the obstacle course at some point. She says she is still open to more ideas.
