CHARLES CITY, Iowa – A well-known north Iowa attorney passed away this weekend.
Normand Klemesrud died at the age of 67. He was first elected Floyd County attorney back in 1992 but, resigned from the position in 1994 so that he could return to practicing law at a private practice. He was appointed to the office again in 2010 to replace Jesse Marzen.
Attorneys who have worked with him over the years tell us he was always calm, reassuring and patient as he represented his clients. Jim Erb, the mayor of Charles City and a practicing attorney in the area tells us Norman always, “took things in stride.” Erb says Klemesrud was well-respected in the community and that the news of his passing caught him off guard.
“I think everyone knows that he was on the road to retirement,” Erb says, “but besides that, he was a good man who was ready to serve his community, he was good for his family and I know he would have enjoyed retirement.”
Klemesrud’s funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday Aug. 22nd at St. John Evangelical Lutheran church. Friends who are unable to attend the service are encouraged to sign the online condolences book at www.fullertonfh.com.
