CERRO GORDO COUNTY, Iowa — Two people are under arrest after a traffic stop turned into an alleged drug bust.
According to Lt. Matt Klunder with the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began at 8:57 p.m. Sunday, when authorities received a complaint of suspicious activity in Burchinal. The caller noticed two suspicious vehicles by an agriculture elevator and an abandoned home. A deputy found one vehicle matching the witness’s description leaving the scene, and pulled the vehicle over nearby on Lark Avenue.
After an investigation, the deputy found that one of the occupants, Christopher Evenson, 31, of Mason City, was wanted for arrest on a parole revocation in a previous burglary conviction. The deputy also arrested the driver, Dawn Porter, 45, of Dows, after searching the vehicle and finding “a large quantity” of suspected ice methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription drugs, and paraphernalia.
Both were taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail on multiple drug charges.
