Community comes together for The Barrel Drive-In

Volunteers at The Barrel Drive-In

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – It was all hands on deck Monday afternoon as the Clear Lake community came together to give The Barrel Drive-In a fresh new look.

Volunteers arrived around noon to start scraping off old paint on the outside of the building and the overhang, and then, it was time to paint. White paint, paint trays, rollers and brushes were donated for the project by Woodford-Wheeler Lumber Company .Area professionals dropped by and donated their expertise, and time to the cause.

Owner, Seth Thackery says he has been overwhelmed by the amount of support he has seen from the community, and he believes the support will only continue to grow. Thackery tells us he is hopeful folks will continue to come and help spruce things up. He is hopeful that they can have everything finished before the holiday weekend.

Volunteers are welcome Monday from noon to 2:00 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and again from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
