Waldorf Football sweeps first NSAA awards

Waldorf College swept the first edition of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Football Players-of-the-Week honors, announced Monday.

Dedarius Bridges was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week, Jamaar Crayton was named Defensive Player of the Week and Dustin Wilke was voted as Special Teams Player of the Week following their performances in last Saturday’s 48-0 win over Mayville State University (0-1) at Mayville, N.D.

Bridges, a 6-foot, 180-pound freshman running back from Miami, rushed 27 times for 217 yards and two touchdowns to help the Warriors (1-0) win their first-ever NSAA contest. He added two receptions for 24 yards.

Crayton, a 6-foot-3, 270-pound junior defensive end from St. Louis, recorded six solo tackles and three assists to lead Waldorf’s defense. He added 4.5 tackles for a loss of 13 yards. Waldorf’s defense limited the Comets to just 68 yards of total offense.

Wilke, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound sophomore kicker from Holzgerlingen, Germany, connected on two field goals from 26 yards and 34 yards. He also converted all six of his point-after attempts. Wilke had five punts for a total of 209 yards. His nine kickoffs included three touchbacks and totaled 542 yards.

The Warriors host their home opener against Trinity Bible College (0-0) this Saturday at 7 p.m.
