Voters will decide on $1.5 million dollar county project

Proposed location of Worth County Resources Center

WORTH COUNTY, Iowa – Voters will be asked to approve a $1.5 million dollar Worth County Resources Center.

The Board of Supervisors has set November 4 as the date of a special election on whether Worth County should take out a loan for that much to build a facility to house an emergency operations center, the County Conservation Board and backup locations for Sheriff’s radio dispatch and information technology.

County officials say some of their existing buildings are becoming outdated and they would like an offsite location for data storage.  The proposed Resources Center would be built next to the Worth County Recycling Center near Kensett.

At least 60% of voters must vote “yes” on the loan for it to pass.
