CHARLES CITY, Iowa – A group of students in our area are getting a fresh start before entering high school.
Charles City High School freshmen went off campus today for a lesson in respect.
School advisors call the event a “transition activity”. About 140 students were involved, and organizers hope it sets the tone for their future high school career.
“To help forget the past, maybe mend some things that may have been broken along the way. Just standing up for yourself, or standing up for others around you. It’s really a good transition activity for these freshmen students and a good way to start their high school career,” says high school math teacher, David Voves.
The cost of the retreat is covered by donations from local non-profits.
