MASON CITY, Iowa - It’s been just over a month since RAGBRAI riders came through north Iowa. This week, RAGBRAI representatives from Des Moines met with area organizers to discuss this year’s stops.
They analyzed what went well and what could be improved on. Lead organizers from Mason City and Forest City both say the RAGBRAI reps were very happy with both community stops. In Forest City, they were impressed with their food and theme, while in Mason City, they say it was easy to access parks and information.
Mason City organizer, Jodi O’Brien, says it probably won’t be another 29 years before thousands of bikes come through again.
“They were really impressed when coming in and our parks were really easy to get to and clean. Everybody was so pleasant and helpful, especially the Hump Day crews. It was so easy to find volunteers to find out where they were going,” says O’Brien.
Everyone agreed a few areas to improve on, in many communities include more porta-potties and washing stations, as well as more volunteer help, especially on sanitation committees.
