Mason City social worker accused of sex with client

MASON CITY, Iowa – After an investigation, the Iowa Board of Social Work is charging a former Mason City social worker with a sexual relationship with a client.

According to the charging documents, Lisa Bailey is charged with “engaging in a sexual relationship with a current client,” as well as practicing while impaired, and engaging in unethical conduct.  According to the board, evidence shows that Bailey made several phone calls and text messages to a client, engaged in a sexual relationship with the same client, and admits she was “mentally distressed and taking a prescription medication that affected her judgment at the time.”  Because of the relationship, documents state she was terminated from her employment.

A hearing on this case is scheduled for November 10 in Des Moines.  The Iowa Attorney General’s Office will be prosecuting the case.

Bailey has a license to practice social work at the masters level active through December 31.
