ROCHESTER, Minn. – A para-professional with Rochester Public Schools has been charged with one count of third degree criminal sexual conduct.
39-year-old Jody Lynn Nelson is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student during a party at the home of the student’s mother. The incident allegedly occurred in October 2009. According to the criminal complaint, Nelson met the teen at the start of 10th grade and began texting with him. Authorities say Nelson started hanging out with the student and his friends and drinking with them. Witnesses reported seeing Nelson having sex with the teenager at the party.
This alleged incident was initially uncovered during an employee investigation conducted by the Rochester School District.
Nelson has pled not guilty. A jury trial has been scheduled for January 5th.
