FLOYD, Iowa – After the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department was damaged on Sunday, the Sheriff’s Department investigated the incident. The investigation found that James Middour was operating one of the fire station’s ladder trucks while intoxicated. The fire truck and the station doors were damaged. Assistant Floyd County Attorney, William Baresel says he is not sure who will pay for the damage.
One of the biggest questions that still needs to be answered is whether Middour was part of the fire department at the time of the incident.
“We know Mr. Middour was a volunteer with the fire department,” said Bersel. “Whether or not he was still a volunteer on the date of the incident is being determined, as well as if this will have an influence on a criminal case or a possible civil case.”
No charges have been filed at this time.
