KIMT News 3 – Nearly three weeks have gone by since the murder of Mason City native Kelly Philips, and his killer still on the run.
Philips was shot and killed at a gas station in the Twin Cities suburb of Arden Hills, and is believed to have been killed by Lyle Marvin “Ty” Hoffman. Friends and family of Philips have spokes out about his death and say they’re just hoping for closure.
Police far and wide have been diligently working on the case, including officials in our area. Because Philip’s was a Mason City native, Sheriff Kevin Pals with the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office tells us they received a call shortly after the incident alerting them that Hoffman was on the run.
Pals says, “with homicide cases, it’s very important to let all law-enforcement know that there is a suspect out and that he is still possibly armed and dangerous,” and that alerting Cerro Gordo is important since Philips still has family living in Mason City.
If anyone knows anything about Lyle Marvin “Ty” Hoffman’s whereabouts, they are asked to contact Crime Stoppers. Information can be shared anonymously by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
