MASON CITY, Iowa – Police have arrested a man suspected of breaking into a Mason City home.
Officers said it started around 10:15 Thursday night at a house on the 1100 block of First Street Southeast. Police report, the owners came home and found 26-year-old Joshua Schaer inside. When they called 911, he ran.
About an hour and a half later, authorities say, he returned to the neighborhood. The homeowners spotted him, called 911 again, and grabbed him until police arrived.
Police said Schaer put up a fight, and officers had to use a taser to get him into custody.
As of Friday morning, Schaer is in the Cerro Gordo County Jail. Court records show Schaer was arrested less than two weeks ago by police on another theft charge.
