ROCHESTER, Minn. – Students are sitting at their desks have their new #2 pencils in hand.
Tuesday was the start of the 2014-2015 school year in Minnesota including Rochester. There was excitement in the air as children got off the school bus eager to get back into their classrooms. Staff and faculty with Rochester Public Schools say they are ready for this school year, especially with all-day kindergarten being offered for the first time. “This is something we’ve been working on since I started with the district over three years ago. Last year we did a pretty significant pilot program, so that we could work out any concerns that we had,” Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Brenda Lewis said.
All-day kindergarten will begin on Thursday.
