Public asked to help in search for accused killer

UPDATE – The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office has identified the vehicle, confirmed its ownership and it is no longer being sought by law enforcement.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Authorities are again asking for the public’s help to find an accused murderer.

The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office and various other law enforcement agencies searched Prior Lake, Minnesota on Wednesday after a reported sighting of Lyle Marvin “Ty” Hoffman.  They are now asking for assistance in identifying a vehicle that may be connected with the search.

It is described as a silver colored mid-sized SUV, possibly a 2005 to 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer, with three decals in the rear window and one on the back driver’s side.  The vehicle was observed near the intersection of Wilds Parkway and Fox Tail Trail in Prior Lake, near the reported sighting of Hoffman.

HOFFMAN WANTED

Hoffman is wanted for the shooting death of Mason City native Kelly Phillips at a gas station in Arden Hills, MN on August 11.  He is also a suspect in a bank robbery in Blaine, MN on August 31.  Authorities say Hoffman is considered armed and dangerous.
