KIMT News 3- The NFL season kicks off Thursday night, meaning football season will soon be in full swing. Whether you’re tailgating at the stadium or at home watching the game, snacking healthy can be a challenge.

Experts suggest adding vegetables to the grill when you’re cooking up burgers and brats. You can also trade the chips and dip for some fresh carrots and celery.

When it comes to alcoholic beverages, stick with lower calorie options.

“If you’re a beer drinker there’s definitely lots of options. It seems like almost every company has a lighter beer that they’re offering. There’s Bud sSelect 55 which actually only has 55 calories, and Miller 64 which only has 64 calories,” said registered dietitian Megan Colon.

If mixed drinks are more your style, Conlon suggests using diet soda or low calorie juices as your mixers.
