Rochester police investigating assault involving knife

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Rochester police are investigating after a 27-year-old man reported being assaulted by two people he knew.

It happened just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in front of the Dorothy Day House at 703 First Street SW. The 27-year-old victim said he was assaulted by two people he knew were upset with him over a verbal fight.

During the assault, one of the suspects struck him in the face several times, including with keys attached to a lanyard. The man began fighting back and gained the upper hand when a second suspect pulled a knife and told him to stop or he’d be stabbed.

The fight ended and the suspects reportedly left the area in a silver vehicle. The suspects are known to police, but they haven’t been found yet.

The victim sustained injuries to his face and eye but was not seriously hurt.
