Storm and flood victims can now apply for state help


ALGONA, Iowa – North Iowa Community Action Organization is now accepting disaster assistance applications from Kossuth County.

Governor Terry Branstad has activated the Iowa Individual Disaster Assistance Program for residents affected by recent storms and flooding.  Grants of up to $5,000 are available for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

The money can be used for home or vehicle repairs, replacement of clothing or food, as well as temporary housing expenses.  Original receipts will be required for those seeking reimbursement.

Grant applications can be obtained on Mondays between 8 am and 4:30 pm at the Kossuth County Outreach Office at 117 East Call Street in Algona, the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Wesley City Hall and online.
