Floyd County Conservation Board looks to improve water access

ROCKFORD, Iowa- The Floyd County Conservation Director Adam Sears is looking for funds to add a number of river access points in Floyd County.

Sears says many of the points people are utilizing now are on private property and show not be used. He says they would like to add 3 new access points to rivers in Floyd County, but is focusing one at a time. The first project is at Midway Bridge in Riverton Township. He says the project would cost around $3 thousand and is currently working on a grant through the Department of Natural Resources.

“We’re trying to make it more recreational opportunities for these water trail users into make a ramp or a smooth access in and out of the water,” says Sears. “The project we are working on would be about a 5 mile float from the white water course in Charles City.”

There is not yet a deadline for this project.
