MASON CITY, Iowa – The 13th Annual Ethnic Lunch was held Friday in Downtown Mason City.
The purpose of the event is to highlight the many cultures and ethnic traditions that co-exist in the community.
Food vendors selling foods from all corners of the world such as tacos, egg rolls, meatballs and Indian food were open and ready for business.
“Diversity is increasing you know, not just here locally but you know throughout the world is getting smaller and so it’s a perfect way to learn about other people’s culture and appreciate it, says Jane Ginapp, Chair of Events for the North Iowa Diversity Commitee.
Also Friday afternoon, North Iowa Area Community College, First Congregational United Church of Christ and the Music Man Foundation were presented with awards for their service to the community.
