ROCHESTER, Minn. – A 27-year-old Rochester man is facing charges after being found carrying a pistol without a permit after a reported disturbance.
Around 6 p.m. Thursday, Rochester police officers were dispatched to that reported disturbance near the picnic pavilion at Bear Creek Park, where a suspect was allegedly armed with a handgun.
Officers found a large and uncooperative group near the pavilion, but no active disturbance. An arriving officer heard what sounded like a handgun racking from inside the restroom and detained Ashwell Majok as he exited.
He was found to be in possession of a semi-automatic handgun and was arrested for being in possession of a handgun after a previous conviction and carrying a pistol without a permit.
