STEWARTVILLE, Minn. – Olmsted County sheriff’s deputies are looking for the public’s help to find a burglary victim after a suspect confessed Wednesday.
Around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person in Stewartville. The caller said they saw a person they didn’t recognize lurking in their front yard. When investigators checked it out, they met 34-year-old Sean Jacobson, of Rochester, who was very talkative, sweating and shaking while he talked to them.
He admitted to having a large amount of coins in his backpack. After knocking on several doors in the 500 block of Seventh Street NE, deputies met with a victim who said they were a coin collector and had their collection stolen.
Deputies went to meet with Jacobson at a local hotel, where he admitted to burglarizing that home and one other. Investigators say he collected more than $1,000 in loose change along with jewelry from the other home.
If the jewelry belongs to you, you’re asked to contact the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office. Jacobson faces potential charges of third-degree burglary, possession of stolen property and theft.
