CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – A traffic stop outside North Iowa Area Community College is sending a Forest City woman to jail and a Mason City man to federal prison.
23-year-old Alyssa Marie Sandry and 28-year-old Ernesto Gregory Ruiz were arrested after the traffic stop on November 30, 2015.
Sandry entered a guilty plea in Cerro Gordo County District Court to possession of methamphetamine, 1st offense, and was sentenced to seven days in jail and has to pay a $315 fine. Local charges against Ruiz were dismissed so he could face federal prosecution for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. He pled guilty and was sentenced Friday in Cedar Rapids Federal Court to 70 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
