Shoppers thinking security after St. Cloud stabbing

ALBERT LEA, Minn. – Incidents like the recent mall stabbings at the Crossroads Mall in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, are leading shoppers to wonder about the safety of their local malls, but local law enforcement has some safety tips for them.

Northbridge Mall in Albert Lea is periodically patrolled along with other businesses by the police department.

But it’s one of many malls that has no private security or law enforcement on duty.

The Freeborn County Sheriff says that means shoppers need to be alert.

“I like for people to be aware of what’s going on around them, who’s around them, continue to have a good time but up your level of awareness,” says Sheriff Kurt Freitag.
