MASON CITY, Iowa – It’s not uncommon for your TV time to be taken over by political ads around this time of year.
In nearly seven weeks you’ll be asked to vote for a president, but have you noticed a lack of ads this round? Bennett Smith explains both presidential candidates receive a lot of free media, which could be the reason for fewer ads. Smith says it’s important they keep Iowa in mind.
“The candidates visiting in person matters a lot just like it does during the caucus process. This is kind of a retail politic state that will make a difference,” Smith, a political science instructor said.
Smith says Iowa provides six electoral votes in the race. Minnesota provides 10.
