SHEFFIELD, Iowa- Sheffield city leaders are asking for the community’s help to search for the owners of what they believe is a memorial rock that was found on Gilman Street and Highway 65 in Sheffield. They say the rock was discovered while crews were working on a culvert replacement project at the intersection. City Clerk Katy Flint says they have not had a fatal crash at the intersection in over 10 years and hope to find the owners.
“The intersection is going to change, so we won’t be able to put the rock back in the exact place where it was,” says Flint. “We would work with them to either give it back, or put the rock at a different place near the intersection, but we just want to find out whose it is.”
Flint says they have received a lot of attention since they started the search on their Facebook page. She is asking for folks to contact the city if they have any information on who the owners might be. You can click the link below to check out their Facebook post.
