ROCHESTER, Minn. – A 44-year-old Rochester man faces drug charges after police say he was caught with 58.2 grams of methamphetamine while trying to break into a vehicle.
Around 5:30 p.m. Friday, a caller told police and a man and woman appeared to be breaking into a vehicle parked in the Cooke Park lot. The responding officer knew the vehicle didn’t belong to them because coincidentally, he arrested the vehicles’ owner during a traffic stop earlier that day and they requested the vehicle to be parked there.
The officer found a backpack near the vehicle that both the woman and James Anderson denied ownership to. Upon investigation, the officer found the drugs along with Anderson’s identification.
The woman was released and Anderson faces charges of first-degree drug sales and first-degree possession of methamphetamine.
