AUSTIN, Minn.- It was a day of celebration in Austin as the Hormel Foundation marks its 75th anniversary.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to honor those who have helped along the way and to recognize this milestone.
Over the years the foundation has distributed money to many different organizations in Austin. The Hormel Foundation supports 13 qualifying organizations. This includes: Austin Public Schools, Cedar Valley Services and Austin Salvation Army.
“We get a lot of requests far beyond what we can give, but we go over all of the requests through our nonprofit organizations that sit on our board,” said Gary Ray, Chairman for The Hormel Foundation. “We have an extremely good understanding of what the needs are and the benefits that will help the community long term.”
The Hormel Foundation has donated $197 million over the last 75 years.
