MASON CITY, Iowa – A man accused of kicking a police officer has been sentenced to three months in jail.
32-year-old Brandon Ward was charged with 3rd offense OWI, assault on persons in a certain occupation and interference with official acts after an incident on May 26 in Mason City. Police responding to a disturbance in the 1400 block of North Madison Avenue said they found Ward in a car, and he allegedly got out and kicked an officer.
On Tuesday, Ward entered guilty pleas in Cerro Gordo County District Court to interference with official acts and driving while license denied or revoked. He got 30 days in jail on the first charge and 60 days for the second, to be served consecutively, and must pay a $1000 fine.
