ROCHESTER, Minn. – A Wabasha man was arrested in Rochester overnight when police say they found him in possession of a stolen motorcycle.
Police say it happened just before 3 a.m. The same officer who spotted the stolen truck earlier that night noticed a man and woman on a Harley motorcycle parked outside Wyndham Garden Rochester. When the pair spotted the officer, they quickly went into the hotel.
The officer thought that behavior was suspicious and ran the bike’s plates, which came back as a different vehicle. When he ran the VIN number, it came back as stolen out of Mower County.
Police arrested 33-year-old Matthew Hines, who allegedly had 65.4 grams of meth in his pockets.
He faces charges of first-degree possession and sales of a controlled substance as well as possession of stolen property. The woman wasn’t arrested.
